Tyler Anakin Grover, 20, of Hampton, is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed chase through Calvert County, nearly causing several head-on crashes in the process, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators say that a deputy spotted Grover’s motorcycle speeding at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone while recklessly weaving through traffic on Route 4 on the wrong side of the road.
When the deputy activated their emergency lights and sirens to pull him over, Grover allegedly refused to stop and instead hit the gas, authorities said.
Grover then veered back onto the wrong side of the road, forcing oncoming drivers to take evasive action to avoid a collision, the sheriff’s office said.
In a last-ditch effort to escape, he tried making a U-turn in the grass median—but the bike got stuck, sending him tumbling to the ground.
Grover was quickly taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
He has been charged with:
- Reckless driving;
- Negligent driving;
- Fleeing and eluding;
- Several other related offenses.
